In case you weren’t aware, one half of Katiepies is a senior in high school and yes, she is the creator and driving force in this adventure. The other half, me, her mother, acts as financier, business manager, dishwasher, supply provider, and just plain free help. One of the better parts of this endeavor is the search for a culinary school. Katie wants to be a pastry chef and then open her own bakery. We have conversations all the time about the bakery menu, what will sell, what’s hot, what’s not.
Recently, we visited the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California. WOW! What a fantastic school. Not only beautiful but a very rigorous program. They have a very small pastry program and of course larger culinary program. We had a lovely lunch outside and even did an olive oil tasting. Needless to say, we were impressed.
This story will be continued, next stop is Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena.
There is a saying that some people eat to live and some live to eat.
We definetly live to eat.
Until next time, sweet treats to you,
